The concept of a 5 & 10 store started when Bernard J. Hoy opened his first 5 & 10 in 1935 in New Castle, Delaware. After working for Woolworth in Philadelphia for ten years, he decided to venture out to open his own store to fit any family’s needs.

Today, there are four Hoy’s locations on the beaches of New Jersey in Cape May County. We have stores in Avalon, Stone Harbor and Ocean City.

All of the current locations have been owned and operated by Bernard Hoy’s grandson, David Hoy, for the last 20 years. David continues the Hoy’s family tradition of affordable products and unmatched customer service.
